“It’s too crowded!” it what you’ll typically hear me (and hundreds of other people) say about going to any of the theme parks on a holiday, but I may have found the one park in Orlando that isn’t overrun by New Years Eve crowds – Hollywood Studios.
I’ve spent the past two New Years Eve nights there, and it has been a blast! Crowds are low, and there are so many fun things happening!
This year, we got to the park around 6:00pm. There were no lines for the tram, security, or the main entrance – we went right in! Once we were in, we were handed New Years Eve hats and horns. For the most part, the walkways were clear, and we did not have to weave in and out of people.
Things to do:
Earlier in the day, we were able to get Fast Passes for Tower of Terror, Star Tours, and the second showing of Fantasmic. Attraction waits were typical for peak season, but nothing too extraordinary. The highest times were Tower of Terror (70 minutes) and Slinky Dog Dash (100 minutes). If you didn’t feel like riding rides, there was a super fun DJ in front of the Chinese Theater, complete with lights and smoke. As the night went on, it turned into a dance party!
We opted for quick service (Rosie’s), but I checked when we walked in, and there were available reservations for each full-service restaurant. We used the mobile order feature and waited about 10 minutes for food. We had no trouble finding a table.
Hollywood Studios is such a great choice for New Years Eve, especially if you’re looking for something a little more low key. What’s your favorite thing to do for New Years? Let us know!
