Free Things to do at Walt Disney World

FREE and DISNEY are two words that you don’t often hear together, but did you know that there are several free things to do/get on your trip to Walt Disney World? Here are some of our favorites:

🖌️ Art Class at Art of Animation 🎨

This resort holds a FREE Disney-themed drawing class daily. They take place in a small room in the lobby. The last time that I checked, these took place at 11:00 am, 2:00 pm, and 5:00 pm each day, but you may want to call ahead to check the times. This also makes a great souvenir! You do not have to be staying at this resort to attend the class.

🆓 Leis when you visit the Polynesian Resort 🏝️

You get a free lei just for walking into the Polynesian Resort! These are fun to wear while exploring the resort, and make a great souvenir.

Monorail/Resort Hopping 🚝

While you do have to pay to park if you’re not a Passholder or Cast Member, monorail rides are FREE. You can take them around to different resorts and explore. One track even takes you on a loop of Epcot! This is especially fun around the holidays – we like to go to each resort and see the Christmas decorations.

Disney Visa Cardholder Pictures 📷

Did you know that you can get a FREE Photopass picture in Epcot? Just go to the Disney Visa Character Experience, where the characters change daily, but it’s usually one of the Fab Five. You get complimentary downloads of your photos.

Mickey Stickers

I always see Cast Members with huge rolls of Mickey stickers that they are handing out! When I was teaching, I even asked for enough for my class, and they gave me plenty. This is a fun, FREE souvenir.

Buttons

You can ask almost ANY Cast Member for a free button! If they don’t have one readily available, they will quickly find one for you. They have several different designs to choose from, like “First Visit”, “I’m Celebrating…”, and “It’s My Birthday”. This is another great and FREE souvenir.

🎆 Fireworks 🎆

There are so many free places to watch the fireworks! If you look up the schedule in advance, you can plan to be somewhere on Disney grounds right on time. One of my favorite places to watch is the beach at the Polynesian. You also get a great view from Wilderness Lodge!

Animal Viewing at Animal Kingdom Lodge 🦒

While you may have to pay to park, Animal Kingdom Lodge is a great place to watch the animals! You can ask the front desk for an Animal Viewing Guide.

Campfire at Ft. Wilderness Campgrounds 🏕️

This FREE event happens every night (weather dependent) and it SO MUCH FUN! You can bring your own S’mores supplies and roast marshmallows at a campfire, where they will also do a sing-a-long, Chip & Dale come around for photos and autographs, and they show a movie under the stars! Call the resort in advance for movie titles/times.

WINE! 🍷

This almost seems to good to be true – free wine at Disney World?! At California Grill (in the Contemporary), you can ask to taste any of their wines! Our waiter was very generous with his pour and let us taste 3.

Is there something that we missed? What’s your favorite Disney freebie? Let us know!
